About Ava

I’m a first-year student at the University of Iowa coming from the small town of Poplar Grove, IL. My intended major was nursing, but I soon found my passion was in the fashion industry. I still wanted to pursue my education at Iowa, so I chose to switch to an open major.

I am excited for all the wonderful opportunities that the university has to offer along with all the experiences that will surely last a lifetime. After graduating from North Boone High School, a very small rural school with a class size of only 130, a big school atmosphere seemed like a nice change and a perfect fit for me. It has an urban, yet small town feel that instantly felt like my “home away from home,” when I first stepped foot on campus. One of many things that appealed to me while visiting Iowa was the vast amount of opportunities that were available. There are so many clubs, sports, and recreational activities that you’re bound to find something you’re interested in.

This school year I will be living in Stanley Hall. I am a member of UI Dance Marathon, and I love to participate in many different community service programs.

I believe that everyone is made of their own stories, and are filled with memories and moments of their life. College is one chapter that seems to be a highlight for many people. I can’t wait to tell you about my own chapter at the University of Iowa, and the adventures that await!
