“Courage Under Fire”
Last night I sat in on the University Lecture Series lecture “Courage Under Fire” by Roxana Saberi. This amazing woman was wrongfully imprisoned while she was a journalist reporting in Iran. She served 100 days of her 8 year sentence. She now uses her voice to speak out for the voiceless, demanding basic human rights that everyone deserves.
One of the great perks about being a student on campus is the access to amazing lecturers. The topics from human activists to biology researchers to archaeologists to diplomats! People come from all over the world to share their experiences with UI students, staff, and community members. Most of the time the lectures are free and, if you are lucky, have snacks.
