First of all let me bring you up to date.\u00a0 Last Sunday I was able to switch rooms within my building, and I have a new roommate.\u00a0 She is really sweet and we are getting along very well.\u00a0 She’s from New Orleans and she loves to cook.\u00a0 I’m excited to eat some homemade southern-style food this semester.\u00a0 So during the week \"\"<\/a>it was business as usual.\u00a0 I had readings, lectures, tests, quizzes etc.\u00a0 Thankfully, Friday night was my first night that week to actually go out and have some fun.\u00a0 A friend and I ate at Pancheros and then headed to the IMU for the CAB comedian Jamie Kennedy.\u00a0 He was really funny and my friend and I both had a good night.<\/p>\n

The next day I had to wake up pretty early for my first day at work.\u00a0 I work for Hancher and our show that day was in Hancher green so I didn’t have to walk very far in the rain.\u00a0 I got there and everyone was quiet.\u00a0 It’s not natural to be talkative so early in the morning.\u00a0 So the trucks got positioned and we started unloading all of the equipment.\u00a0 We set up the stage and put up the tents that would be used by the performers.\u00a0 My shift was almost over when something painful occurred.\u00a0 I was pushing in the still tabs to set up the railings for the stairs when the pole slipped and caught my finger.\u00a0 I looked down at my finger and all I saw was blood rushing out of a gash where my skin used to be.\u00a0 One of the production managers took me inside and one of my fellow stagehands medicated and wrapped my finger.\u00a0 I almost passed out and had to sit down for a few minutes.\u00a0 I have never cut my finger like that before, and all I could think about was how this was my first time trying to t\"\"<\/a>ake care of a serious wound without the help of my mom.\u00a0 I walked back to my place and took a couple of Tylenol.\u00a0 Unfortunately I only had band-aids, but luckily my roommate had a first aid kit with all of the essentials that I would need.\u00a0 As I am writing this my finger is wrapped, but the redness is less and the bleeding has stopped.\u00a0 Hopefully the rest of my college experience will involve less blood and pain.\"\"<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
