There are a lot of great reasons to choose Iowa (really, a lot<\/em>), but today let’s talk about why you\u00a0shouldn’t<\/strong> choose Iowa:<\/p>\n

  1. You\u2019re scared of birds.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Ornithophobia: the fear of birds. Maybe a goose chased you. Perhaps a seagull stole your sandwich. We\u2019re not here to judge. But we should point out that our mascot is a rather large bird. While Herky would never intentionally scare a fellow Hawkeye, we get it.<\/p>\n

    1. You HATE black and gold.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      We\u2019ll admit it, our color palette isn\u2019t for everyone. Some people prefer red, and well, we don\u2019t. We like to sparkle<\/strong>\u00a0in our gold. And with the unbeatable Hawkeye spirit, you\u2019ll have no choice but to indulge in that black and gold drip.<\/p>\n

      1. You think the Old Capitol building might be haunted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Old Cap is an icon. A landmark. A site of historical importance. You\u2019ve seen hundreds of pictures of the gleaming golden dome. It\u2019s a rite of passage to capture your own Old Cap pic. But sometimes, pictures seem to just… appear<\/em>. Old Cap has that ✨magic✨.<\/strong> It\u2019s giving spectral presence, and like Scooby-Doo, you\u2019re outta here.<\/p>\n

        All jokes aside, the University of Iowa is a phenomenal place to call home, and we hope you\u2019ll join us, Future Hawkeye. If you\u2019ve had a chuckle (or rolled your eyes) at this post, then you\u2019re our kind of person.<\/p>\n

        The number one reason you should be a Hawkeye? Because Iowa feels like home.<\/p>\n
