Entering the University of Iowa, a new student could potentially be overwhelmed by the abundance and diversity of majors to choose from.\u00a0 Between accounting, sports management, english, music, chemical engineering, or communications, there are a plethora of options to choose from.\u00a0 The University of Iowa provides tremendous opportunities for their students within their major or area of study. These opportunities may take the form of a job or internship and could be located locally, regionally, or nationally.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now figuring out your major may take lots of time and could come as a struggle at first.\u00a0 Many students enter college thinking that they want to pursue one area in particular, but after taking a class or learning from a specific professor, they come to realize that they desire to change their major.\u00a0 Also, many students may pick up a minor or a certificate in another area that sparks their interest, but they may not want to invest the time or effort to pursue a major.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The University of Iowa provides its students with the freedom and ability to switch around their major, as they may see fit.\u00a0 Students are stuck in whatever major they come in thinking that they will pursue. The advisers in each department makes it easy to switch and immediately be immersed in places on campus to dive into activities or groups in your field of study.<\/span><\/p>\n

All of the professors here are very engaging and love to chat with students about different classes and areas of study for them, to find the best fit.\u00a0 In addition, professors are very encouraging and supportive to help students find their niche and best area on campus for them as students and people to thrive.\u00a0 Professors care about more than just the student you are, but even more so, the person and citizen that you are becoming.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Figuring out your major can be a tedious task and may take a long time to find, but that is perfectly okay and even encouraged!\u00a0 It is best to struggle through many different areas, so that you can settle on what truly sparks your interest. And the best part of this searching process, is that once you find what major you want to pursue, it is more than fine to change that and look for something else to dive into.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
