Dan is awesome.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This is a quickie because I have class in twenty minutes.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Yesterday was fun. I went to Drawn into Learning (which I love\u2014for homework, I drew a portrait of myself and wrote an introduction for the class) and Rhetoric (which has an awesome instructor). I planned to pull an all-nighter, but that was unsuccessful because of a floor meeting. I sat next to a girl on my floor named Alyse, who wears the coolest, multicolored glass I\u2019ve ever seen.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI feel bad because I missed the Hillel barbeque,\u201d I said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (For those who don\u2019t know, Hillel is essentially Jew club, and I didn\u2019t miss the barbeque by choice\u2014I got lost.)<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cNo way.\u201d She faced me. \u201cI\u2019m Jewish too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cReally?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cYeah. Do you know any other Jews on our floor?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cThere\u2019s one other girl, but she doesn\u2019t practice as much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cOh. Well, we should go to Hillel together.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cYeah, definitely.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We listened to the speakers at the floor meeting and assembled in small groups afterward. I met this awesome kid named Dan, an awesome kid named James and another awesome kid named Zach. We stopped by my room with a few other writers (The boys were fascinated by my bonsai and majestica<\/em> tree. Their awe was appreciated.) and then headed upstairs to the boy\u2019s floor, where we created a writers\u2019 handshake.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI drew a portrait of you on your door,\u201d I said to Dan. \u201cIt kind of looks like Harry Potter, but whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 He ran to his door.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cTHIS IS AWESOME.\u201d He ran back to me. \u201cYou\u2019re my new best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cAw thanks. You\u2019re my new best friend too. Can we be NaNoWriMo best friends?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 (NaNoWriMo is a project in which you write a novel in November. It\u2019s really fun and a lot of pressure. Sometimes people throw parties for it.)<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cNo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I gave him my saddest face. He didn\u2019t care. It looked like this: :<<\/p>\n
