I did my laundry with Alyssa last night. She returned from Rush in this adorable purple dress with a pearl necklace and matching earrings. I looked like a hobo (albeit a fashionable one\u2014the jeans were well tailored), but I didn\u2019t mind. I like comfy, hobo-esque clothes\u2014they keep you warm.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to look like one of those 50s housewives\u2014\u201d said Alyssa \u201c\u2014the ones who do laundry in their dresses. Would you mind taking a picture of me?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNot at all,\u201d I said. She posed with the laundry detergent. I took the picture with her camera. \u201cIt looks cute.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me see.\u201d<\/p>\n
I showed her the picture.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is<\/em> cute.\u201d<\/p>\n We talked about hometowns and her friends until the laundry finished. She told me how she and her friends compared themselves to the characters of Sex and the City<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s interesting,\u201d I said. \u201cMost people compare themselves to the Disney Princesses where I come from.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe do that too, but I\u2019m Charlotte. She\u2019s the conservative, traditional one.\u201d<\/p>\n I saw it, I guess, but I still preferred Alyssa to Charlotte.<\/p>\n \u201cYou know, I haven\u2019t had any superficial conversations with you,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t really like them.\u201d<\/p>\n She hid her face behind her elbow and spoke.<\/p>\n \u201cHey, there\u2019s an echo. Do you hear the echo?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI hear the echo.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI guess we just had a superficial conversation.\u201d She laughed.<\/p>\n The laundry finished and we carried it downstairs.<\/p>\n When I reached my room, I looked at the clock\u20141:00am\u2014and crashed.<\/p>\n I woke to NPR. I had slept for six hours.<\/p>\n Because Zach requested mention in my posts, here\u2019s his cameo:<\/p>\n Zach spoke with me before I left for today\u2019s class. I asked him to water my plants while I was away for Labor Day weekend.<\/p>\n \u201cDo I have to play Mozart for them?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n (Mozart\u2019s \u201cEine Klein Nachtmusik<\/em>\u201d boosts problem-solving ability by 15% for fifteen minutes. It also enhances plant growth. It\u2019s also catchy.)<\/p>\n \u201cOkay\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n (Zach doesn\u2019t like \u201cEine Klein Nachtmusik<\/em>\u201d. He finds it \u201ccrappy\u201d.)<\/p>\n I left for lecture, where I watched slides about petrified poop and decapitated birds. Then I went to discussion, where I learned about mud bricks.<\/p>\n I ran home after class and spoke with Zach\u2019s roommate, Jimmy\/James, an organic food lover. He offered me an organic Oreo, which I ate.<\/p>\n \u201cZach\u2019s supposed to water my plants. Can you give him my key?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYeah.\u201d<\/p>\n I handed him my key.<\/p>\n \u201cUse this wisely.\u201d<\/p>\n I ran to the IMU and caught my bus. I took a three-hour nap on the way home.<\/p>\n I am tired.<\/p>\n PS: I drew a picture of my friend, Amanda, which I\u2019ll post in the next update with another drawing.
