{"id":473,"date":"2026-01-26T14:53:58","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T14:53:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.admissions.uiowa.edu\/solenn\/?p=473"},"modified":"2026-01-26T14:53:58","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T14:53:58","slug":"first-week-of-spring-semester","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.admissions.uiowa.edu\/solenn\/2026\/01\/26\/first-week-of-spring-semester\/","title":{"rendered":"First Week of Spring Semester!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello all!<\/p>\n<p>This was the first week back (and my last semester of college ever, wow!)<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown of my schedule:<\/p>\n<p>Monday: Writing and Reading Fantasy Fiction (MLK Day meant I have not yet attended)<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday\/Thursday<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Business of Media: Lots of group work, participation. Very interesting so far, we&#8217;ve talked extensively about the Warner Bros and Netflix deal. Since I want to work in media\/entertainment, this is very important knowledge!<\/li>\n<li>Business French: With my favorite professor ever, Madame Sohair! We are talking about vocabulary words for resumes, cover letters, and networking right now. We will also make a French job application. I want to work in France one day, so lots of good prep.<\/li>\n<li>Italian Food Culture: My favorite so far! I&#8217;m Sicilian on my mom&#8217;s side, so I enjoy learning about the Italian-American diaspora and how cultures have a similar emphasis on food in their daily lives. We even get to cook!<\/li>\n<li>British Fiction: Women&#8217;s fiction, such as the Bronte sisters, Jane Austen, Virginia Woolf, and George Eliot. The entire class is reading and discussing their work, which is right up my alley!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I have no class on Wednesday and Friday, so it is a chill schedule with plenty of time for work!<\/p>\n<p>-Solenn<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello all!
