Congrats! You’ve hit “submit” on your University of Iowa application!
Maybe you celebrated or started checking your email 67 times for your admission decision. Maybe you closed your computer and decided not to think about it for a little while.
Now that your application is submitted, you might be wondering: what comes next?
Keep an eye on MyUI
Once you submit your application, you’ll get an email with instructions on how to set up your HawkID and password. Your HawkID gives you access to MyUI, where you can find your Admissions Profile, which is your “home base” for everything related to your application. This is a site you’ll want to bookmark and come back to regularly!
What can you do in MyUI? Check the details of your application (major, honors eligibility, and more)
- See the materials we’ve received (transcripts and test scores)
- Don’t worry, your application isn’t suddenly denied because something took longer to get to our system. You’ll see specific information or instructions on how to submit it to our team.
- Find your admission decision
- Accept your offer of admission and pay the acceptance fee
- Find next steps when they become available
- Update your contact information (email, address, phone numbers, etc.)
- Make sure everything is up to date so that we can contact you!
- Start the housing process when it opens in January
Watch your inbox
Keeping up on email is probably the most important part of your college search. We send important application reminders and next steps for admission. Watch for any messages from the University of Iowa and give your spam folder a check every so often, too. Our messages will be sent from “IOWA – University of Iowa Office of Admissions” (be-a-hawkeye@uiowa.edu).
Don’t put your life on hold!
Waiting for your admission decision can sometimes feel like the world’s longest loading screen. While you wait, keep doing your homework and finish your senior year strong. If you haven’t already, take some time to learn more about Iowa beyond the application:

We start making admissions decisions on a rolling basis starting in August.
Take a deep breath and let that sink in for a moment. You actually did it—you navigated the entire college application process, wrangled the requirements, and put yourself out there. That is a HUGE deal, and the hardest part of the waiting game is officially behind you. No matter what comes next, you should be incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and courage it took to cross this finish line!
