I have told you guys about how I am a double major, but I have never actually shown you what a typical Tuesday looks like for me during this fall semester. I only have class four days a week, so I thought I would take you through a typical Tuesday for me. My day begins at 8:30 a.m. I walk over to Burge Residence Hall from Currier, which is next door, for breakfast. I then head down to Van Allen Hall for my Beginning Italian 1 class, which begins at 9:30 a.m. Right now we are learning about direct pronouns!
Once Italian is over, it’s time for my least favorite part of my Tuesday. I have to make my way across campus! I have to walk all the way from Van Allen Hall to HSAB, which is our brand new Health Sciences Academic Building for my 11 a.m. class. It’s definitely a walk, but at least I’m getting my steps in! By 11 a.m., I’m in Physical Activity and Health, one of the classes for my Exercise Science major. It’s a class that connects directly to what I’m studying, so it’s interesting to learn more about how physical activity affects our health. After making that long walk across campus, it’s also a little funny to sit down and learn about the importance of staying active!

After finishing Physical Activity and Health, I head over to Burge Market Place to grab some lunch. By this point, I’ve already spent a good portion of my morning walking across campus, so it’s nice to sit down, eat, and take a break from classes. Once I’m done eating, I head back to Currier Hall to start working on homework. Being a double major means I’m constantly switching between Exercise Science and Sport and Recreation Management assignments. Today, I’m working on an Ignite presentation for my Contemporary Issues in Sports class. My presentation focuses on Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), a professional softball league that’s helping create more opportunities for women in sports. Since softball is something I’m really interested in, I’ve actually enjoyed researching the league and learning more about its growth.

After spending most of my day going to classes and working on assignments, I’m usually ready to relax. I typically take a shower, get comfortable in bed, and watch some TV. It’s a nice way to unwind after a busy day and take my mind off schoolwork for a little while.
My Tuesdays might not be the most exciting, but they’re a pretty good representation of my life as a student at Iowa. Between learning Italian, studying Exercise Science, and working on sports-related assignments, there’s always something keeping me busy. Even though balancing two majors can be challenging, I’m enjoying the experience and getting more comfortable with my routine each week.
