Attending a Big Ten University means that you are walking around a very big campus. Although Iowa has one of the smallest campuses within the Big Ten, there are still lots of places to explore! Here are some of my favorites:

Currier Fitness Center

If you’re looking for a place to workout and you live in the East Side Dorms, but don’t want to trek all the way over to the main Rec Center, The Currier Fitness Center is a great place to work out. They have a variety of cardio and weight machines so you can find the best workout for you. Additionally, it is usually pretty low traffic, so don’t be afraid to try something new!

*Note: If you don’t live in the dorms, there is a hidden fitness center behind Halsey Hall in the alleyway next to the IMU Parking Garage. Can you find it?

Art Building West Library

The library on the second floor of Art Building West is one of the quietest places you’ll find on campus. Overlooking the pond below, this library is a great place for some hardcore studying. And maybe even a nap here and there 🙂

The Learning Commons (Newly Renovated)

I have  a strong belief that a University’s main library is the heart of a campus. It’s packed with endless information, the library serves as a place for studying, research, and much more. However, with the newly renovated Learning Commons, Iowa’s library allows for so much more. With reservable group study rooms, a cafe, and hundreds of computers, The Learning Commons is a fantastic way to get work done. Most of the walls can be written on and the chairs are stunning. Find a time soon to stop in and check check it out before everyone else!

Studio Arts

Relocated after the 2008 flood, Studio Arts is one of the farthest buildings away from main campus. However with an easy 10 minute ride from your friendly Cambus driver, you’ll be there in a flash! Filled with rooms of art, computers, and creativity, Studio Arts is a great place to find inspiration!

 

There are hundreds of places on campus for you to explore during your time here at Iowa! Take advantage of the large campus and make it yours! Comment below with YOUR favorite spots and see if you can find something new!
