The Imaginary Invalid

category icon Posted in General

One of my primary reasons for attending the University of Iowa was the clear presence and appreciation for the arts. There are live readings every week at Prairie Lights books store, numerous music concerts in downtown restaurants, and much more! As a Theatre & Art major, I love to explore the events and festivities Iowa City has to offer.

So now it is time for my self promotion! If you are looking for a fun, comedic night of the theatre, come see me in a new adaption of Moliere’s The Imaginary Invalid!

“An aging hypochondriac with a miserly streak, Argan decides the key to solving his medical needs is to marry off his daughter to a doctor. Unfortunately for him, his gold-digging wife, his wise-cracking maid, and his daughter have other ideas. A fun, fresh take on Moliere’s most often produced comedy; this new adaptation takes a close look at the medical industry, the source of many of Argan’s ills. With comic disguises, feigned deaths, an improvised opera, and Moliere’s brilliant wit, The Imaginary Invalid could be just what the doctor ordered for a fun evening in the theatre.”

Performances are on November 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 23 at 8:00 p.m and November 20 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available through the Hancher Box Office by calling 319.335.1160 or 1.800.HANCHER or online by visiting www.hancher.uiowa.edu/tickets.
