GO HAWKS!

Whiplash

I will be glad to let you all know that I have returned from Texas, safe and sound. I traveled last week to my Muscatine, Louisa and Scott counties in Iowa! I love going back to my old school, Muscatine High School!

I had two fairs these last two nights in South Holland, IL and Chicago, IL. It usually takes some adjustment to get use to Chicago area traffic. I am an aggressive, yet careful driver; however, when someone slams on their brakes…there is not much time to react!!!! I had that happen to me tonight and I had to slam on my brakes and skid forward, barely missing the car in front of me. I was so scared! I was okay and there were no accidents!

I have seen some really great students that are interested in Iowa. I love when students have questions for me! It makes my career really meaningful to know that you all care and are interested in more than our football team. Thank you to all the great students out there with their great questions!

Go Hawks! I go back to the office tomorrow morning just in time for homecoming Friday!

Anxiety and airports

I am sitting in the Moline airport waiting for my flight to McAllen, Texas and I am now breathing somewhat easier.

When I checked in they did not have a seat assignment for me…if you have flown before, you know that it could mean an overbooked flight! I try not to get a panic attack, but I can already feel my lunch in my throat. Then I begin to think of my luggage, I haven’t had much luck actually getting my bag the same night. Then I think what if I have to wait until tomorrow…my entire day would be ruined.

I hope all will go excellent and I get a good night’s rest, but if not, I will figure it out and make do with my resources.

Luckily, I got a seat assignment! Now if I can get my bags when I land….this may be a great day. But, until I’m actually in my hotel room with my bags will my heart go back to it’s normal speed.

Preparing for Travel Season…tired already!

So, this past week I have finished planning my travel for the next 3 months! I think I am actually a little weird, because I love planning my travel. It’s like a giant puzzle and I have to fit all the pieces together, then sometimes there are challenges and a school can’t meet with me that day; so then I have to have a back up plan. I know, I know…exciting, right?!

My first stop…Rio Grande Valley, TEXAS; Sept. 13-17! If you are in the area, let me know and I can tell you my schedule! I LOVE TEXAS!  I’ll hopefully be able to see my family that live in Donna, TX and am sad that I won’t get to make it to Mexico.  🙁

A warm welcome!

Thank you for visiting my blog! I am hoping that you will find me extremely fun and entertaining. Probably really upbeat…I’m an optimistic, what can I say? 🙂 I am currently gearing up to start traveling to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and it has been hectic in the office! But, I’m ready to go back on the road (or air…since I fly) and meet so many of you bright students! Oh, and of course I can’t wait to eat awesome Mexican food, eat tres leches cake from my favorite panaderia while I’m in Tejas!
