In the fall I created a list of my favorite study spots on and around campus. Now that it’s spring, I have been able to explore a little bit more and I have found a few more study spots that I really enjoy and want to share with you.
As we all know, springtime in Iowa can bring rain, the occasional snow, and sometimes the sun. My favorite rainy day study spot is a coffee shop (I know, surprisingly, Kyla is at a coffee shop agaiiinnnn) in the Graduate Hotel, called Poindexter. I really enjoy this spot on a rainy day because it’s such a cozy environment. The lights are a little dark, and there are only a few windows. It’s normally pretty quiet and lowkey in there which makes it a great spot to get a ton of work done. One thing I find really cool about this place is that the walls are lined with wooden pencils and there is also a ton of seating.
Another new place I have discovered is on the second floor of the IMU in the Student Organization Office suite. You know those giant windows on the front of the IMU overlooking the street? Yeah, that’s where this is. I enjoy studying here because of all the natural light. It’s so bright and airy and just makes me want to get things done. I’m not really sure if this area is meant for random kids to study in (hence the name Student Organization Office Suite) but I had no issues and there were other students in there also. This would be the perfect area to work on group projects in too!
The third and final spot I have discovered since my last study spot list is the top floor of the Papa John Business Building. The top floor is a designated quiet space so you are almost guaranteed to get a ton of work done while you are up there. I like going up there between classes to power out an assignment before my next class. Sometimes it’s tricky to find a spot to sit in the Biz Hub during the busier parts of the day but I never have a problem finding seating on the top floor!
I encourage you to try out a few of my new favorite study spots and hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
